Cleaning operations prior to the steel immersion in the bath of molten zinc are essential to a galvanizers ability to create an uniform coating with adequate, but not excessive, coating thickness by diffusion reaction between molten zinc and bare steel.
Steel metal parts which are selected for hot dip galvanizing are in rusting mode as different types of mill scale present on it due to rolling mill handling which forms composite layers of iron oxide as rust when these steel metal jobs are dipped in acid baths for pickling for removal of rust, acid penetrate the scale layers and dissolve the inner layer, causing the bulk of the scale to be removed in flakes during entire reaction. Acids always tend to abrade metals even after removal of scale or rust. Sometimes over pickling happens and can cause a roughening of the whole surface, discoloration of the steel, and a decrease in size and weight of the part. An over-pickled steel surface may also cause an excessively thick galvanized coating.
HODGA In – An effective acid inhibitor are used in acid pickling baths to prevent over pickling & loss of base metal during proper pickling. It also prolongs life of acid baths. Steel metal surfaces have to be free from rusting and scale for further process in dipping zinc bath. Using of our HODGA In- inhibitors also reduce releasing of acid fumes which is harmful for workers.
HODGA In is formulated for the inhibition of phosphoric acid, sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid etc. Use concentration varies in the range between 0.1% – 0.3% calculated according to concentrate acid. Use of this product prevents excessive abrasion of base metals in various type of acids. It is a concentrated inhibitor blend designed to inhibit corrosion during acidizing. It contains a highly effective combination of surfactants, solvents and dispersants with both anionic and cationic agents which are workable at room temperature and at any medium. It contains both foaming and non foaming active agents to avoid hydrogen gas evolution during operations.
